¡En español por favor!

Hola.

P3/4 have been practising their Spanish over the past couple of weeks, revising colours, numbers, greetings and body parts. Using the wonder of modern technology the children have taken self-led tours around some of Spain’s famous cities and landmarks, and have compared aspects of Spain with Scotland.

Our main focus for new learning has been weather words and phrases. The children  decided to use their new linguistic abilities to perform a weather report. P3's have been practising simple words to describe the weather, whilst  the P4’s have been hard at work translating simple phrases into the Spanish language to use in a role play.

If you think our weathers been chaotic, check out the weather in some of our favourite holiday destinations...

This just in from Murcia...

Looks like Seville is snowed in too!

Barcelona is a bit windy today... watch out for the falling tree!

Malaga is the place to be, we think!

There's been a murder...!

Clydebank College called in a request for P3/4 to solve a case, so we set off down there, put on our white coats and got to work as Forensic Scientists!

Trip to the Science Centre

It took longer than expected to get there, but get there we did!

The children had a blast. Enjoy the photos!

Fractions

We've been learning all about fractions. Primary 3 have been exploring halves, quarters and thirds by splitting shapes, and sharing out items. Primary 4 have been exploring fractions with larger denominators, and have been getting to grips with equivalents.

P4 made fraction kites.

Those boys... can't take a decent picture! :) However... P4 were able to identify that the larger the denominator, the smaller the fraction (or piece of cake!).

P3 finding a quarter of a number.

Equivalents are great fun!

We moved from splitting playdough cakes into halves, quarters and thirds to identifying and writing the fractions we could see on the sheet. P3 have worked very hard!

The children have enjoyed learning all about Scottish castles. We learned about who lives inside a castle, and we learned about the structure and defense of castles. The children worked in groups to design and build a castle, before visiting Stirling castle.
