SCOTTISH POETRY

P3/4 have been exploring poetry. The children have been choosing poems they like and sharing them with the class.

We looked at poetic devices and learned how to write metaphors and similes, which we used to create nonsense poems.

We also explored rhyme through playground chants and songs. We got the jump ropes out and learned some rhymes to go with the skipping. We also had a go at the old-style hand clapping games, and the children shared some of their own, and taught them to their classmates. The children have had fun playing and creating their own rhyming chants to use in a game.

We also learned some Scottish poems. The children decided on which ones they wanted to learn, and we performed them in front of the whole school at assembly.
